FUNDING

Funding is a complex topic and we have included a table below to give some clarity. Contact us for further information that may be more relevant to your circumstances.

A few important notes on funding:

  • Funded hours DO NOT cover the charges for meals or sundries (nappies, wipes, and certain resources)

  • Funding applies only for 38 weeks of the year (term-time)

  • Where a child attends all-year-round, we will ‘stretch’ the funding so that parents may benefit fully, or where  there is wrap-around care, have lower bills over the whole year.

  • All children receive 15 hours of funding from the term after they turn 3 years old, regardless of parental income.

HMRC FUNDED HOURS

(9 months to 4yrs)

TAX FREE CHILDCARE

(All ages but granted by HMRC)

You may be eligible for a funded childcare place of up to 15 hours per week or 570 hours a year if your family receive at least one of the following benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • support through part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act and sections 95 or 98 of the Immigration and Asylum Act
  • the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit or Working Tax Credit with a gross annual income of no more than £16,190.
  • Working Tax Credit 4-week run on (the payment you get when qualifying for working tax credits)
  • Universal Credit with net earnings below £15,400

You are not eligible if you claim Working Tax Credits and Child Tax Credits at the same time.

You may be able to get free childcare for your child aged 9 months to 4 years old if you live in England.

The amount of free childcare you can get depends on:

  • your child’s age and circumstances
  • whether you’re working (employed, self-employed, or a director)
  • your income (and your partner’s income, if you have one)
  • your immigration status
  • Over the next 3 months you and your partner (if you have one) must each expect to earn at least:
    • £2,380 before tax if you’re aged 21 or over (equivalent to £183 per week)
    • £1,788 before tax if you’re aged 18 to 20 (equivalent to £137 per week)
  • If you or your partner have an expected adjusted net income over £100,000 in the current tax year, you will not be eligible

You can get up to £500 every 3 months (up to £2,000 a year) for each of your children to help with the costs of childcare. This goes up to £1,000 every 3 months if a child is disabled (up to £4,000 a year).

If you get Tax-Free Childcare, you’ll set up an online childcare account for your child. For every £8 you pay into this account, the government will pay in £2 to use to pay your provider.

You can get Tax-Free Childcare at the same time as 15 or 30 hours free childcare if you’re eligible for both.

Eligibility criteria are the same as for HMRC funded hours
